Celebrity Waiter Dinner for the Salem Outreach Shelter
The Salem Outreach Shelter (SOS) is a transitional housing program for homeless families in Marion and Polk Counties. Ten families reside at the shelter at one time for an average of three months. During this time families must strive for a successful future with permanent housing, stable income, and a resource base to obtain long-term stability.
In order to sustain this program the YWCA holds several fundraisers throughout the year. The event that puts “fun” in fundraiser is the SOS Celebrity Waiter Dinner. This event is not your typical dinner. At this event if you’re the waiter, you’re the celebrity. If you’re the guest, your waiter will have been transformed into a celebrity and their table is decorated in a matching theme. Friends, co-workers, and businesses got together for great fun, great food and a great cause!
The 9th Annual Salem Outreach Shelter Celebrity Waiter Dinner was held on May 30, 2009. The Salem Conference Center raised over $1,000.00 with their “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” theme for this great cause!
